The following walkthrough is intended for those who want information on Pokemon: Yellow Version. Yet it works as well for Red and Blue, and possible Green versions. Just some of the things are different, although I'm sure you knew that, didn't ya.

The main chunk of the guide. Standard walkthrough, start to finish.

[Pallet Town]
Pokemon: Pikachu (1), Eevee (1).
Items: Potion.
Trainers: Rival (Gary).

Head up to your PC and withdraw the Potion. Go outside, and walk north in to
the grass. Professor Oak will stop you, and catch a wild pokemon. Follow him
back to his lab, and you'll meet your rival. He'll snatch the Pokemon intended
for you, and you'll get the Pikachu Oak caught earlier. Head outside and Gary
will challenge you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gary                                     Rewards: $175, 97 EXP

Thundershock a few times and Eevee's toast. You shouldn't need to, but you can
heal with the potion you withdrew earlier if your HP gets low.

Pokemon: Eevee (Lv. 5)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After winning you'll discover the little rat would rather follow you along than
stay in his pokeball. Your mom can heal your pokemon at your house if you need
to. When you're finished, head north to Route 1.

[Route One]
Pokemon: Pidgey, Rattata
Items: Potion.
Trainers: None.

Talk to the first person you see and you'll receive a free potion. Nothing else
interesting on this route, but the pidgey's here are very easily defeated with
pikachu's thundershock. Good for a couple of quick early levels. When you get
through route one, you'll be in Viridian City.

[Viridian City]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Potion, Oak's Parcel.
Trainers: None.

Enter the town, heal if needed, and head to the Pokemart. The clerk there will
give you a package to deliver to Oak. Before doing so, head west until you find
a very small passage to the north. Head up the passage, following the turn
right until you come to a bush. Check it (press A) for a Potion. Then head back
to Pallet Town.

[Pallet Town]
Pokemon: None
Items: Pokedex, Town Map.
Trainers: None.

Head down to Oak's lab and deliver the package. Gary will come in, brag a
little, and you'll both receive a Pokedex. Shops will now sell you Pokeballs,
and you can begin catching pokemon. Afterwards, head up to the house above the
lab, and get a town map from Gary's sister. Then head back up to Viridian, via
route one.

[Viridian City]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Pokeball.
Trainers: None.

Head to the pokemart, buy a few pokeballs, and head west to route 22.

[Route Twenty-Two]
Pokemon: Rattata, NidoranM, NidoranF, Spearow, Mankey.
Items: None.
Trainers:

Spearow is easily bashed upon for quick easy EXP. The others are pretty easily
taken down too. Be sure you catch at the least, a Mankey. It will provide very
useful in the first gym. You can catch the others if you'd like, but they take
a bit of training before they're any good. Put Mankey in the lead after you
catch him, you'll need to train him briefly before you enter the next area.
When both pokemon are around level 7, go west to find gary.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gary                                    Rewards: $280, 268 EXP

Spearow's dead in two thundershocks. Eevee can go down to either Pikachu or
Mankey, pick your poison.

Pokemon: Spearow (Lv. 9), Eevee (Lv. 8)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After that's done with, heal, and head north to route two.

[Route Two]
Pokemon: Pidgey, Rattata, NidoranF
Items: None.
Trainers: None.

The Pidgey here go up to level 7, making it a great area to raise Pikachu if he
still seems weak. Try to have mankey learn low kick here (Lv. 9) as well. Then
head into Viridian Forest.

[Viridian Forest]
Pokemon: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Caterpie, Metapod.
Items: Pokeball, Potion [x2].
Trainers: Lass, Bug Catcher [x4].

Enter, head to the west, then north to pick up a pokeball. Head back down, left
into a small grass patch, and talk to the trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                     Rewards: $90, 151 EXP

Mankey's Scratch or Pikachu's Thundershock will easily take them both
out. Yawn.

Pokemon: NidoranF (Lv. 6), NidoranM (Lv. 6).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go back to the entrance, and go to the right. Walk up and you'll meet another
trainer soon enough.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                              Rewards: $70, 158 EXP

Two caterpies. Oooh. Mankey's scratch will do.

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 7) [x2]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head up through another grass patch and you'll find yet another bug catcher.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                              Rewards: $60, 249 EXP

Metapod doesn't attack, toss the weakest of your two pokemon at him. Caterpie
goes down again to mankey's scratch. The last metapod is shockingly just as the
first. By now mankey should be guaranteed to know low kick, and pikachu should
have thunder wave.

Pokemon: Metapod (Lv. 6) [x2], Caterpie (Lv. 6).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head up and collect the potion, then make your way left and down, until you
come to yet another bug lover.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $80 , 213 EXP

More of the same, just at higher levels. Use mankey here to get him to level 11
or so.

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 8), Metapod (Lv. 8).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow the grass path up, left, and down again. Go down to your right and
collect another potion. Then head up to the left for one more buggy trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $100, 103 EXP

Whomever is the lowest level in your party, be it mankey or pikachu, use them
to knock off another caterpie.

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Try to have both your pokemon at level 10+, and head up through the gate house
into pewter.

[Pewter City]
Pokemon: Pidgey, Rattata, NidoranM, NidoranF.
Items: TM 34 (Bide), Boulder Badge.
Trainers: Jr. Trainer, Brock.

There's a patch of grass with the same pokemon you've seen before, so that's
not of much use. Heal your pokemon, put mankey in the lead, and head directly
to the gym in the northwest corner of pewter. Into the gym, and first up is a
mini-trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Jr. Trainer                             Rewards: $180, 334 EXP

One or two low kicks from mankey will take out diglett, depending on your
level. Sandshrew will require two or three low kicks, however, unless your
level is rather high.

Pokemon: Diglett (Lv. 9), Sandshrew (Lv. 9).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heal if needed, then approach the gym leader, brock.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER: Brock                        Rewards: $1188, 460 EXP, TM 34

One, or two at most of the low kick variety will take out geodude. For onix,
it's only three. You should make it out without a scratch. Claim your rewards
from brock, heal, then head east to the trainer-ridden route three.

Pokemon: Geodude (Lv. 10), Onix (Lv. 12).                 Boulder Badge
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

[Route Three]
Pokemon: Spearow, Rattata, Mankey, Sandshrew, Magikarp (1).
Items: None.
Trainers: Lass [x3], Bug Catcher [x3], Youngster [x2]

Now that he's served his purpose, dump mankey in the PC, and bring your pikachu
through the hellish amount of trainers in this area. Starting with the first...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                   Rewards: $135, 210 EXP

Two pidgeys. Two thundershocks. Easy.

Pokemon: Pidgey (Lv. 9) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Going up, we find another group of trainers...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $100, 335 EXP

Your only real danger here is getting posioned by Weedle. If that happens, just
heal at a pokecenter. All three go down to 2-3 quick attacks or thundershocks.

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 10) [x2], Weedle (Lv. 10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not too far to the right...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Youngster                               Rewards: $165, 278 EXP

Rattata is easy, dead in two quick attacks. Ekans could be a problem if you are
unlucky and get stuck in a poision/wrap combo. To fight this, T-wave ekans
first, then assault it with thundershock. Should fall in 3 rounds.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 11), Ekans (Lv. 11).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To the right, jump down the ledge, to find a lonely trainer..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Youngster                               Rewards: $210, 174 EXP

Type advantages are so fun. Two thundershocks are more than enough to do
spearow in.

Pokemon: Spearow (Lv. 14).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go back up to the top part of the area, and find some more trainers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                    Rewards: $150, 248 EXP

Two thundershocks and rattata's toast. Nidoran's gone in two-three
thundershocks.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 10), Nidoran (Lv. 10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just below lassie....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                              Rewards: $90, 475 EXP

Weedle's down in 2 t-shocks. Kakuna doesn't attack, use what you please.
Caterpie and metapod are respectively equal to the former two, in that they
both suck.

Pokemon: Weedle, Kakuna, Caterpie, Metapod (Lv. 9)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Down to the right, and you're nearly there...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $110, 293 EXP

Both fall to two thundershocks. Wonderful.

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 11), Metapod (Lv. 11).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down to the grass patch, avoiding the last trainer (you'll come back to
her later). You can find some pokemon here, including sandshrew. Be sure to
catch it. Level pikachu to 16, and try to train sandshrew some in the grass. If
you can get pikachu to level 17, and sandshrew to 10, head back and fight the
last trainer you avoided earlier... (otherwise, skip the below section and move
on).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                   Rewards: $210, 228 EXP

Lead with thunderwave, to paralyze jiggly. Then use Double Team (hopefully) six
times to maximize your evade. Pound won't hurt you much, but she could disable
one of your moves, or even worse, put you to sleep with sing. With any luck,
though, she'll be paralyzed and you'll be DTed to the max, making it easy to
take her down with quick attack. If you do manage to get put to sleep in
between setting up pikachu, switch to sandshrew, and use sand attack to lower
her accuracy to where you can win in a drawn out fight.

Pokemon: Jigglypuff (Lv. 14)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After healing in the pokecenter above, you have another option. You can buy a
magikarp for $500 from a man inside, but i highly suggest you don't. At level
5, with no attacking moves, you'd need to raise it 15 levels before it came
useful. We'll get one later, at a tad higher level, so skip it for now.
Withdraw mankey from the PC (don't worry about leveling it at all), and enter
mount moon.

[Mount Moon]
Pokemon: Geodude, Zubat, Paras, Clefairy, Sandshrew.
Items: TM 12 (Water Gun), Potion [x2], HP Up, Rare Candy, Escape Rope, TM 01
(Mega Punch), Ether, Moon Stone [x2], Helix Fossil OR Dome Fossil.
Trainers: Bug Catcher [x2], Lass [x2], Rocket [x3], Super Nerd [x2], Youngster,
Hiker, Jessie & James.

Enter to the left and go down to find TM 12. Head up to the left and grab the
Potion, then talk to the trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $110, 287 EXP

Two quick attacks from pikachu for weedle, then switch to sandshrew and wittle
away kakuna's life with scratch. Poor thing doesn't even attack.

Pokemon: Weedle (Lv. 11), Kakuna (Lv. 11).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To the right and it's another trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                    Rewards: $210, 204 EXP

A stripped-down version of the jigglypuff you fought earlier. Thunderwave with
pikachu, switch to mankey, and low kick away.

Pokemon: Clefairy (Lv. 14).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue up and to the right. When you see a ladder going down, use it. Down
and to the left to another ladder, then head right and up to collect a HP UP.
Head left and you'll find a rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                  Rewards: $330, 475 EXP

Two low kicks from mankey will dispel of the sandshrew. Just one low kick and
rattata is down. Pikachu can take care of zubat in one thundershock.

Pokemon: Sandshrew (Lv. 11), Rattata (Lv. 11), Zubat (Lv. 11).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Use the ladders to exit the way you entered, and go down once you've made it
back to the original ladder. To the bottom left is a potion, and to the
upper-right of it is a trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Super Nerd                             Rewards: $275 , 449 EXP

Four scratches from sandshrew will take down magnemite with very little damage
taken. Voltorb is very fast, but has a very weak defense. Use sandshrew or
mankey.

Pokemon: Magnemite (Lv. 11), Voltorb (Lv. 11).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head to the right to find a Rare Candy, then go up to find an Escape Rope. Back
down to the left you'll find another trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $100, 377 EXP

As usual, very weak bugs. Any of your pokemon will take them out, although i
suggest your weakest (Probably sandshrew to this point).

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 10) [x2], Metapod (Lv. 10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go up a ways, and you'll find another girl inside a mountain. Ooh.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                   Rewards: $165, 381 EXP

None of your moves will be very effective versus this grass duo, so stick with
pikachu, or mankey if you must. Sandshrew is uber-weak to grass. A few quick
attacks should do the job. T-wave if you must.

Pokemon: Oddish (Lv. 11), Bellsprout (Lv. 11).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue to the left until you come to another ladder. Head down it, down the
next ladder, go to your right, and pick up TM 01. Head down and you'll have to
fight another rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                  Rewards: $360, 297 EXP

Pikachu's thundershock for zubat, and a few quick attacks for ekans.

Pokemon: Zubat (Lv. 12), Ekans (Lv. 12).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Check the left side of the boulder, to find a hidden ETHER. Go back via the
ladders, and head down. You'll immediately come to another trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Youngster                               Rewards: $150, 357 EXP

Sandshrew and scratch for the first two rattatas, and thundershock from pikachu
to take out zubat.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 10) [x2], Zubat (Lv. 10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go all the way left, then up to find a Moon Stone in the upper corner. Then
fight the trainer below the ladder.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Hiker                                  Rewards: $350, 596 EXP

Mankey's low kick for a quick kill on all three.

Pokemon: Geodude (Lv. 10) [x2], Onix (Lv. 10).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go down the ladder, follow the path, down another ladder, then to the right and
it's yet another rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                    Rewards: 307 EXP

Two quick attacks for rattata, and a thundershock for zubat, courtesy of
pikachu.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 13), Zubat (Lv. 13).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue to the right and up, following a longish path. Eventually it will turn
upwards. Go up until you can see a single trainer at the top of some stairs. To
the right will be a small slit. Walk all the way to the right in it, and search
(press a) to find a Moon Stone. Then go upwards and you'll be challenged by the
trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Super Nerd                              Rewards: $300, 787 EXP

Grimer and Koffing both have good defense, but relatively low special. Use
thundershock on them both. Voltorb, on the other hand, has a very frail
defense. Use quick attack to disperse of him.

Pokemon: Grimer (Lv. 12), Voltorb (Lv. 12), Koffing (Lv. 12).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Afterwards, you have the choice to take either the Helix Fossil, or the Dome
fossil. I usually go with the dome fossil. It doesn't matter much, both are
fossils of different pokemon of the same element which you will revive later.
You can only get one, and not both, so just pick whichever you'd like, and walk
to the left towards the exit. Before you get there, however, you'll be suddenly
challenged....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Team Rocket: Jessie & James                     Rewards: $425, 735 EXP

Ekans goes down to a few quick attacks. Meowth can be taken care of with
Mankey's low kick, and Koffing can be extinguished with a couple of
thundershocks.

Pokemon: Ekans (Lv. 14), Meowth (Lv. 14), Koffing (Lv. 14).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

At long last, use the next ladder, and a final ladder to exit mount moon.

[Route Four]
Pokemon: Spearow, Rattata.
Items: Great Ball, TM 04 (Whirlwind).
Trainers: None.

Go to the right, and up into a small ledged area with seemingly nothing. Search
around in the center to find a hidden Great Ball. Continue right, then go up to
find TM 04. You can jump down into a patch of grass to find some pokemon you've
already seen. You can then head right into Cerulean City.

[Cerulean City]
Pokemon: Bulbasaur (1).
Items: Rare Candy, TM 11 (Bubblebeam), Cascade Badge.
Trainers: Gary, Swimmer, Jr. Trainer, Misty.

Oh, so much to do. So much to see. First things first, heal at the pokecenter,
dump mankey in the PC, then go up to the far left into a house. Go out the back
door and you'll be in a tiny brick area. On the top row of the brick ground,
fourth brick from the right, you can search to find a Rare Candy. Give it to
Pikachu or Sandshrew. Exit, and   go down to another house. Enter, and talk to
the girl. As long as you haven't done anything horrid to your pikachu, and have
let it fight, win, and level, it will be happy. She will notice this and give
you a Bulbasaur. Put it in the first spot in your party. Head up to the right
to a passageway north. You'll be stopped by that loveable rival of yours.....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
RIVAL: Gary                                    Rewards: $595, 1037 EXP

Pikachu can take out spearow in one knock. A combination of leech seed + tackle
from bulbasaur will eventually get sandshrew, although you might need to use a
potion once. Sandshrew will get rattata, and pikachu can fry eevee into
submission.

Pokemon: Spearow (Lv. 18), Sandshrew, Rattata (Lv. 15), Eevee (Lv. 17).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heal at the pokecenter then enter the gym to the right. A couple of water
trainers await.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Swimmer                                    Rewards: 614 EXP

Bulbasaur will take care of horsea, as bubble is very ineffective versus
bulbasaur. And if you're at level 13, vine whip is super effective. Otherwise,
use leech seed + tackle. If you know vine whip, bulbasaur can take out shellder
as well. Otherwise, use pikachu's thundershock.

Pokemon: Horsea (Lv. 16), Shellder (Lv. 16).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Jr. Trainer                             Rewards: $380, 446 EXP

Goldeen's peck is super effective vs. bulbasaur, so use pikachu to get rid of
goldeen.

Pokemon: Goldeen (Lv. 19).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heal if you need to, then approach misty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER: Misty                       Rewards: $2000, 1339 EXP, TM 11

Lead with leech seed from bulbasaur, followed by vine whip until staryu's gone.
Her next pokemon, starmie, is much tougher. Regardless of type advantage,
bubblebeam's power will quickly knock out any pokemon. try to get in a leech
seed from bulbasaur, and vine whip until he faints. Switch to pikachu, t-wave,
then t-shock. If all else fails, your last ditch effort is sandshrew, but it
shouldn't get to that point. Especially if you have a level 20+ pikachu. Get
the goods, heal, and head back to where you found gary.

Pokemon: Staryu (Lv. 18)                                  Cascade Badge
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

[Nugget Bridge]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Nugget.
Trainers:

Nugget bridge is a series of 5 trainers, a prize, and a rocket at the end.
Before battling your levels should hopefully be around these levels: Pikachu
(20), Sandshrew (16), Ivysaur (16). Especially if the latter two don't meet
those levels, i'd suggest a bit of training before beginning.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer #1: Bug Catcher                          Rewards: $140, 315 EXP

Sandshrew for both. Scratch will do them in within a few rounds.

Pokemon: Caterpie (Lv. 14), Weedle (Lv. 14).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer #2: Lass                                 Rewards: $210, 342 EXP

Again, sandshrew for both of them.

Pokemon: Pidgey (Lv. 14), NidoranF  (Lv. 14).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer #3: Youngster                            Rewards: $210, 519 EXP

Sandshrew for rattata, and pikachu's thundershock for the last two.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 14), Ekans (Lv. 14)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer #4: Lass                                 Rewards: $240, 388 EXP

Thundershock for pidgey. Sandshrew for nidoran. Nearly there...

Pokemon: Pidgey (Lv. 16), NidoranF (Lv. 16).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer #5: Jr. Trainer                          Rewards: $360, 284 EXP

Leech Seed + Vine whip from bulbasaur. Kudos.

Pokemon: Mankey (Lv. 18).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You will then receieve a nugget from someone past the bridge. After a short
conversation however, you'll learn it's a challenging rocket...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                  Rewards: $380, 358 EXP

Sandshrew for the Ekans, and Pikacu for Zubat.

Pokemon: Ekans (Lv. 15), Zubat (Lv. 15).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

[Route Twenty-Four]
Pokemon: Charmander (1), Oddish, Bellsprout, Pidgey, Venonat.
Items: TM 45 (Thunder Wave), S.S. Ticket, TM 28 (Dig).
Trainers: Jr. Trainer [x2], Youngster [x3], Hiker [x3], Lass [x2], Rocket.

Head up to the left and talk to the trainer there to receieve a charmander. You
heard me, a charmander. Afterwards, get the TM 45 to the right of him. Put him
in front and walk down into the grass to find a trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Jr. Trainer                             Rewards: $280, 354 EXP

Sandshrew's slash (you really should have it by now) will take care of rattata.
If you don't have it, use slam or thundershock from pikachu. The same goes for
Ekans.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 14), Ekans (Lv. 14).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In the grass area is the ever useful Oddish\Bellsprout combo, which you should
not only catch to use later (don't level it), but kill a few times with
charmander for easy leveling. Level charmander until he evolves into Charmeleon
(level 16), then continue east on route 24. A mass of trainers awaits you...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Hiker                                   Rewards: $525, 533 EXP

2 slashes from sandshrew will dispose of machop. Ivysaur can get rid of geodude
with vine whip in one hit.

Pokemon: Machop (Lv. 15), Geodude (Lv. 15).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Youngster                               Rewards: $225, 369 EXP

1-2 slashes from sandshrew for rattata, and spearow. Easy.

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 15), Spearow (Lv. 15).

him, then use the pc to the left, and talk to him when he reappears. He'll give
you an S.S. Ticket. Head back to Cerulean.

When back in cerulean, go to the house on your right with a policewoman nearby.
Enter, and go out the back of the house to find an intruder..

[Route Five]
Pokemon: Abra, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Rattata.
Items: None.

Here you can find a few patches of grass with pokemon in them. A few are new,
especially ABRA. You'll want to get this right away, but it teleports if you
try to catch it. Return here as soon as Ivysaur knows sleep powder, and catch
it. You can also find the daycare center, which will give 1 EXP. the the
pokemon placed inside for every step you take. You'll be using this later, but
for now, skip it. Head inside the building to the lower right. Take the stairs,
and you'll eventually come outside another guard tower, and you'll be on route

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down and you'll finally be in Vermillion.

[Vermillion City]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Old Rod, Bike Voucher.
Trainers: None.

To the left of the pokemon center is a house. Enter it and talk to the man to
get an old rod. You can fish for magikarp with it, or you can wait a while and
get a squirtle. I prefer squirtle as it takes less time to train, but you can
get a magikarp anywhere there's water as well. Go to the bottom left corner of
town and enter the house. Talk to the suited man in the back, and you'll
eventually get a Bike Voucher. You can exchange it for a bike in the Bike Shop
at Cerulean. You can go fight in diglett's cave and level if you'd like (I try
to have ivysaur, charmeleon, pikachu, and sandshrew all at level 20+ by now),
as it's just to the right. Whether you decide to or not, when you're ready, go
to the docks below diglett's cave and enter the S.S. Anne.

first room on the corner. Inside is a trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gentleman                              Rewards: $1260, 702 EXP

One dig each from sandshrew will do Growlithe in.

Pokemon: Growlithe (Lv. 18) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Enter the next room on the left. Another trainer...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gentleman                              Rewards: $1330, 483 EXP

Leech seed + Tackle for NidoranM, and the same for the female variety.

Pokemon: NidoranM (Lv. 19), NidoranF (Lv. 19).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

trainers await.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Youngster                               Rewards: $315, 270 EXP

Leech Seed + Tackle away.

Pokemon: NidoranM (Lv. 21).

At the bottom of the room is TM 08. Save it for later. The last room has
nothing. Exit and go down to the left. You'll be in a kitchen type area. Check
the bottom trash can for a GREAT BALL. Afterwards, exit and go up to the
stairs. Go down to another set of stairs, then exit to the left and head
outside on the deck. Two trainers will greet you in this area...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Sailor                                  Rewards: $510, 701 EXP

Leech Seed + Vine whip will deal with Machop. Thundershock does nicely on
tentacool.

Pokemon: Machop (Lv. 17), Tentacool (Lv. 17).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                    Rewards: $300, 325 EXP

You really can use anything here, so long as it's powerful. Slash\Dig from
sandshrew, Leech Seed + Vine Whip from Ivysaur, anything....

Pokemon: Jigglypuff (Lv. 20).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The item in here is the ever useful rare candy, use it on your lowest leveled
pokemon (probably Charmeleon). The last two rooms have nothing of use, so head
up to the right, where you'll be greeted, and stopped, by Gary.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
RIVAL: Gary                                    Rewards: $1300, 1178 EXP

Spearow - Done like dinner with Pikachu's Thundershock.
Rattata - Gone in a single Dig.

Pokemon: Spearow (Lv. 19), Rattata (Lv. 16), Sandshrew (Lv. 18), Eevee
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Enter the stairs, and talk to the captain. After a bit of talking, and err...
rubbing.. you'll  receive HM 01 - which teaches cut. Head back to Vermillion.

[Vermillion City]
Pokemon: Squirtle.
Items: TM 24 (Thunderbolt), Thunder Badge.
Trainers: Sailor, Rocker, Gentleman, Lt. Surge.

Heal your pokemon first, and now it's time for a little status check. For one,
your pokemon should all be evolving by now. Your charmander should easily be a
Charmeleon (Lv. 18+), your Bulbasaur should really be up there, thanks to the
S.S. Anne, and be an Ivysaur around Lv. 25. Your Sandshrew should be the very
useful Sandslash (Lv. 23), and your pikachu is well.... a pikachu still, but
should be around level 23+.

If you don't already have one, catch an Oddish\Bellsprout (Route Twenty-Two),
they're pretty easy to find. Teach it cut, then cut the bush near the gym in
the lower left corner of town and enter. The trainers here are remarkably easy,
thanks to your Sandslash....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Sailor                                  Rewards: $720, 457 EXP

Sandslash. Dig. Dead.

Pokemon: Magnemite (Lv. 24).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

3 Digs. Dead.

Pokemon: Voltorb (Lv. 20) [x3].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gentleman                              Rewards: $1540, 902 EXP

A dig for each and they're gone. Watch out for voltorb, it knows self destruct,
and is faster than sandslash. If he happens to faint, just use Ivysaur and
Leech Seed + Tackle.

Pokemon: Voltorb (Lv. 22), Magnemite (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The real challenge, if any here, is opening the doors to get to Lt. Surge. You
have to search the trashcans, then search the one next to it on the Left\Right.
After a few tries, you'll get it, and Surge is yours...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER: Lt. Surge                    Rewards: $2772, 732 EXP, TM 24

Thunderbolt\Thundershock\Thunderwave all don't effect Sandslash. It's just too
easy... Go with Dig and Raichu is gone in at most two attacks.

Pokemon: Raichu (Lv. 28).                                 Thunder Badge
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Grab the TM, and stick it on Pikachu. Thunderbolt will make him nearly
unstoppable against any Water\Electric\Flying\Ice. And if it doesn't, you
really haven't been training him much. Exit, and talk to the policewoman in the
middle of town, and you'll get squirtle. With your party now of Charmeleon,
Ivysaur, Squirtle, Pikachu, and Sandslash, you've got a fairly good team going.
You'll get your sixth team member soon (As if oddish or bellsprout would make
it on your sixth slot), as well. Heal, then enter Diglett's Cave.

[Diglett's Cave]
Pokemon: Diglett, Dugtrio.
Items: None.
Trainers: None.

Teach Squirtle Bubblebeam (TM 11), as bubble is just too weak, and Bubblebeam,
well... isn't. Even at level 10, with bubblebeam you should be able to two hit
kill most Digletts for VERY good exp. Try to level up squirtle here as much as
you can, while working your way through the basic tunnel. When you reach the
end, exit (wow). After exiting, you'll be on Route 2.

[Route Two]
Pokemon: Mr. Mime (1).
Items: HM 05 (Flash), HP UP, Moon Stone.
Trainers: None.

Go down, and you'll see a house. Inside is a kid who will trade you Mr. Mime
for clefairy. It's a good trade, if you have a clefairy yourself. Exit and cut
down the bush below. Enter the building and talk to the scientist. You'll get
HM 05 - Flash, assuming you've caught at least 10 types of pokemon, and you
should have, counting evolutions. Go down and outside to find an HP UP, and a
Moon Stone, then double back to diglett's cave. Head back to vermillion this
way, training as you go. You should level your squirtle to 16 by then, and have
a Wartortle. If not, train it more. Afterwards, head back to Cerulean.

Go up past nugget bridge and to the right, use cut and get the Seismic Toss TM.
Keep this for later.

Go to the far right side of cerulean, use cut on the bush, and open up a new
path:

Pokemon: Beedrill (Lv. 19) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To the left is some.... grass. Fearow and Nidorino are both new. Not worth
using, but catching, and sticking in the PC, i suppose. Both give very good EXP
for this stage of the game too, as well. When you're done murdering, head down
two ledges and all the way to the right, then up, and.... trainerage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Bug Catcher                             Rewards: $200, 769 EXP

Charmeleon will burn them all away...

Pokemon: Rattata, Diglett, Ekans, Sandshrew (Lv. 19).

the right, to find another happy hiker.

Geodude: Bubblebeam. Machop: Dig. Geodude: Bubblebeam.

Slash\Dig from Sandslash or Thunderbolt with Pikachu.

Pokemon: Meowth (Lv. 23).

it's one more trainer....

Pokemon: Geodude (Lv. 21), Onix (Lv. 21).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Hiker                                   Rewards: $665, 983 EXP

Same as above, just... more EXP.

Pokemon: Onix (Lv. 19), Graveler (Lv. 19).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Pokemaniac                             Rewards: $1000, 795 EXP

Bubblebeam for cubone. Thunderbolt for slowpoke.

Pokemon: Cubone (Lv. 20), Slowpoke (Lv. 20).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down, and you're in Lavender.

[Lavender Town]
Pokemon: None.
Items: None.
Trainers: None.

Head to the pokecenter. Heal, get oddish back out, and dump magnemite in the
PC. Not much else, head west to Route 8.

[Route Eight]
Pokemon: Rattata, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Abra, Kadabra, Jigglypuff.
Items: None.
Trainers: Lass, Gambler [x2], Super Nerd [x2].

Just follow the path and you'll find plenty o' trainers...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                    Rewards: $330, 638 EXP

To be honest, any of your pokemon will take them out, although Sandslash would
probably do it quickest.

Pokemon: Clefairy (Lv. 22) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gambler                                Rewards: $1680, 786 EXP

Wartortle's Bubblebeam shall never fail...

Pokemon: Growlithe (Lv. 24), Vulpix (Lv. 24).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go left and cut the small bush blocking the grass patch. Be SURE to catch a
kadabra. They don't always teleport. Just hit em with tackle once, throw a
great ball, and you've got a level 20 or so kadabra. Fancy. Cut back out and
follow the path, fighting more trainers...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Super Nerd                             Rewards: $550, 1585 EXP

Dig for grimer. Dig for muk. Dig again for grimer. Joy.

Pokemon: Grimer (Lv. 22) [x2], Muk (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head left. I usually avoid the 4-trainer row as they all deal with normal types
and give out crap EXP. Fight 'em if you want, but i'm not bothering with
needless trainer strategies for them, as I don't fight them. Neener. Keep
following the path, until you come to two more trainers who are more fun to
beat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Gambler                               Rewards: $1540, 1342 EXP

Vine Whip, or Thunderbolt. Whichever pokemon is the lower level. Even levels
are gooooood.

Pokemon: Poliwag (Lv. 22) [x2], Poliwhirl (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Super Nerd                             Rewards: $500, 1750 EXP

Doesn't really matter who you use, although sandslash would take them best with
Dig\Slash.

Pokemon: Voltorb (Lv. 20) [x2], Koffing (Lv. 20), Magnemite (Lv. 20).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head into the 'house' above, use the stairs, and walk through until you get to
another route.

[Route Seven]
Pokemon: Jigglypuff, Rattata, Abra, Pidgey, Pidgeotto
Items: None.
Trainers: None.

No new pokemon, but a good area for leveling your party members, especially
Pikachu. Generally, if they're under 30, they could use some work, but 30 or
over and you're doing great. When you feel sufficient, head left into Celadon.

[Celadon City]
Pokemon: Eevee (1), Abra (230 coins), Vulpix (1000 coins), Wigglytuff (2680
coins), Scyther (6500 coins), Pinsir (6500 coins), Porygon (9999 coins).
Items: TM 21 (Mega Drain), Rainbow Badge, Coin Case, TM 18 (Counter), TM 13
(Ice Beam), TM 48 (Rock Slide), TM 49 (Tri Attack), Fresh Water, TM 23 (Dragon
Rage - 3300 Coins), TM 15 (Hyper Beam - 5500 Coins), TM 50 (Substitute - 7700
Coins).
Trainers: Lass [x2], Beauty [x3], Jr. Trainer, Cooltrainer, Erika, Rocket.

In most cities, you hope for a gym. In this city, the gym is merely a sideshow.
As such, we're going to deal with it first, get it 'out of the way', so we can
get to the fun part. Heal your pokemon, then go to the very bottom of the city,
cut the bush, and make your way into the gym.

Head upwards. I hope your Charmeleon's well trained..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                   Rewards: $345, 1158 EXP

Charmeleon's ember works well, or Sandslash's Dig.

Pokemon: Bellsprout (Lv. 23), Weepinbell (Lv. 23).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Beauty                                Rewards: $1470, 1468 EXP

Again, ember or dig.

Pokemon: Oddish (Lv. 21) [x2], Bellsprout (Lv. 21) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go around to the left...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Beauty                                Rewards: $1680, 864 EXP

Ember will take them both in 2 hits each, or one dig each. Odds are charmeleon
is a tad weaker than sandslash still, so try to use him if you can.

Pokemon: Bellsprout (Lv. 24) [x2]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then loop around to the right...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Jr. Trainer                            Rewards: $480, 1052 EXP

Two embers for bulbasaur. Two for ivysaur. Again, you can substitute Dig in if
Charmeleon is unavailible (But why would he be?).

Pokemon: Bulbasaur (Lv. 24), Ivysaur (Lv. 24)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut the bush on the right side and enter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Lass                                   Rewards: $345, 1033 EXP

Two embers for Oddish. 2-3 for Gloom. Nothing difficult.

Pokemon: Oddish (Lv. 23), Gloom (Lv. 23).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Cooltrainer                            Rewards: $840, 2177 EXP

Use Sandslash's Dig for weepinbell. Ember will again take care of Gloom.
Finally, Ember\Dig for Ivysaur.

Pokemon: Weepinbell (Lv. 24), Gloom (Lv. 24), Ivysaur (Lv. 24).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Beauty                                 Rewards: $1820, 546 EXP

Ember or slash is all that will do away with this one.

Pokemon: Exeggcute (Lv. 26).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk to the remaining trainer inside the square and you'll come face to face
with the next leader....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER: Erika        Rewards: $3168, 3005 EXP, TM 21, Rainbow Badge

Tangela is pure grass type, so Dig won't work here. You'll have to use Ember,
thanks to charmeleon. For weepinbell, send out sandslash and dig it away. One
hit should do it. If not, pray they don't use razor leaf (Happened to me once).
If it does, just bring out charmeleon and finish him. Gloom can be dealt with
by either Charmeleon or Sandslash, whichever is healthiest would obviously be
your best choice.

Pokemon: Tangela (Lv. 30), Weepinbell (Lv. 32), Gloom (Lv. 32).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exit the gym, cut your way out, and enter the building to your upper-left.
Inside, you'll find a guy with glasses in the upper left corner. Talk to him to
get the Coin Case. You can now play the slots, collect coins, and prizes. Head
back to the pokecenter, dump oddish in the PC, and take out Kadabra. Your team
should now resemble the following:

Wartortle (Lv. 27), Charmeleon (Lv. 29), Pikachu (Lv. 30), Ivysaur (Lv. 30),
Sandslash (Lv. 30), Kadabra (Lv. 20).

If it's not, well, train in some grass, newbie. Movewise, you can have what
you'd like, so long as Wartortle knows bubblebeam, pikachu knows thunderbolt,
and sandslash knows dig.

After that's done, head to the upper east corner of celadon. Going around
you'll find a back entrance to a building. Enter, follow the stairs, and you'll
find an item on a table. It's actually an Eevee. It will be sent to your PC,
you don't need it right now. Of course, if you want, you COULD use an elemental
stone to get flareon, jolteon, or vaporeon. If you do so, just substitue it in
for it's matching elemental party memer (flareon for charmeleon, etc...). Of
course, I usually just keep it there for later, as it starts out fairly weak.

Exit, and go all the way to the left of town. There will be a huge pokemart.
Enter, and go to the third floor. Talk to the man behind the counter to receive
TM 18, then go all the way up to the top floor.

Go to the vending machine (it's on the top floor), and buy one of each drink.
Then talk to the girl to the left, and she'll give you one TM for each drink.
For Fresh Water - You'll get TM 13. Give this to Wartortle immediately. For
soda pop, you'll get TM 48. Give this to Sandslash. For lemonade, you'll get TM
49. It's not that great, just keep it for later. Buy an additional fresh water,
and exit the mart.

You can head to the game corner and play slots \ buy coins \ prizes if you'd
like, but they aren't too great, and the good ones are way too expensive and
low leveled to be worth it.

The real treat in the game corner is the
super-uber-hidden-ultra-secret-rocket-base. Betcha didn't know about that, did
ya? In the game corner, talk to the ugly guy standing in front of a poster.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $600, 727 EXP

Raticate is gone in a single bubblebeam. (Or thunderbolt, or razor leaf, or
dig). Zubat goes down to a single confusion. Behold, the power of Kadabra.

Pokemon: Raticate (Lv. 20), Zubat (Lv. 20).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Check the poster, and a switch will be pressed, revealing the entrance to the
Game Corner Basement.

[Game Corner Basement]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Escape Rope, TM 10 (Double Edge), Rare Candy, HP Up, TM 02 (Razor Wind),
Lift Key, Nugget, Moon Stone, TM 07 (Horn Drill), Iron, Silph Scope.
Trainers: Rocket [x5], Jessie & James, Giovanni.

Head down and to the left. Your first rocket awaits you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $630, 1044 EXP

Sandslash and dig will dispose of Raticate #1, as well as #2. Fancy.

Pokemon: Raticate (Lv. 21),
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down and collect the Escape Rope below the table, then go back up to the
entrance and take the stairs going down. Going down and left you'll find
another rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $510, 1554 EXP

The first four go down to a single Confusion from Kadabra. Raticate can be
taken out with a razor leaf from Ivysaur.

Pokemon: Zubat [x2], Koffing, Grimer, Raticate (Lv. 17).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Above him you will find another set of stairs going down. Use 'em, then go down
to find another rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                  Rewards: $630, 792 EXP

Kadabra and confusion will 1-hit both machops.

Pokemon: Machop (Lv. 21) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down and collect TM 10. It's a good move, but not neccesarily for any of
the pokemon on your team. Save it for later, then go up and around to the arrow
maze. From the top of the maze, you'll see a left and right arrow. Take the
left arrow. Go down, and step on the right arrow. Go back two spaces, down, and
take the right arrow (The top one, not the bottom one). Go right and collect
the Rare Candy. Then head back to the top of the maze with the up arrow. Again
from the start take the left arrow, go down, take the right arrow, go back 2
spaces, head down, then go left, down, and you'l come to two right arrows. One
to the top right of another. Take that one, and you'll stop near an opening
downwards. Head that way, to find a rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $600, 1172 EXP

Rattata: Slash from sandslash.  Raticate: Slash\Dig\Rock Slide from Sandslash.
Drowzee: Dig (Sandslash).

Pokemon: Rattata (Lv. 20), Raticate (Lv. 20), Drowzee (Lv. 20).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go down, right, then up, and you'll come to another set of stairs leading down.
Take them, then head down and left to find an HP UP on a table. Go all the way
up, then left, and you'll find an item and a rocket. Collect the item - TM 02,
then fight the rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                  Rewards: $630, 756 EXP

Kadabra's confusion for Koffing. Confusion, Rock Slide, or Thunderbolt for
Zubat.

Pokemon: Koffing (Lv. 21), Zubat (Lv. 21).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk to him once more and he'll drop the lift key. Then go down, head up the
stairs. Exit the arrow maze to the north, use the stairs going up on the right,
and you're back to the second floor and another arrow maze. There are two left
arrows on top of each other. Take the lower one. When you stop, backtrack to
the right and collect the nugget. Go back to where you where, and collect the
Moon Stone to your lower left. Use the 'right' tile to the upper right of you
to collect TM 07. Go right, and down. You'll stop between a down arrow to your
left, up arrow below you, and down arrow to the right of you. Take the arrow to
your right. When you stop, take the arrow to your left. Go right, and down to
find two more arrows on top of each other. Take the top arrow, then finally the
lone arrow below you, and enter the elevator, don't take the stairs. Ride the
elevator to B4F. When you exit, you'll be stopped by the ever elite team of
Jessie & James. Joy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Team Rocket: Jessie & James                     Rewards: $750, 1310 EXP

Koffing goes down in 1-2 confusions, depending on your kadabra's level. Meowth
is gone after 1-2 bubblebeams from Wartortle. Ekans is toast to either
Confusion (Kadabra), or Dig (Sandslash).

Pokemon: Koffing (Lv. 25), Meowth (Lv. 25), Ekans (Lv. 25).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go down and left and collect the Iron off the table, which boosts defense. Then
go right and up, to find a mysterious looking loser...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Giovanni                              Rewards: $2871, 2188 EXP

Being the head of team rocket, Giovanni is elegant, powerful, and of course,
easy to beat. Onix goes down to bubblebeam or icebeam from wartortle, or razor
leaf from ivysaur, OR dig from sandslash. The same can be said for Rhyhorn,
although I always use bubblebeam. Persian goes down in 2 rock slides, or
slashes from Sandslash.

Pokemon: Onix (Lv. 25), Rhyhorn (Lv. 24), Persian (Lv. 29).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After the battle, Giovanni will disappear, but leave the Silph Scope behind.
Grab it, then use Sandslash's Dig to get out of the basement. Heal, then go all
the way east to Lavender Town.

[Lavender Town]
Pokemon: Gastly, Haunter, Cubone.
Items: Escape Rope, Elixir, Awakening, HP Up, Nugget, X Accuracy, Rare Candy,
Pokeflute.

Now that you have the Silph Scope, it's time to enter the pokemon tower in the
eastern corner of town. Enter, and take the stairs on the right. On the next
floor you'll see gary, so walk up to the dolt and prepare to bash him again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
RIVAL: GARY                                    Rewards: $1625, 2529 EXP

Fearow: A single thunderbolt.
Shellder: A single razor leaf.

Sandshrew: A single bubblebeam.
Eevee: One-two slashes from Sandslash.

Pokemon: Fearow, Eevee (Lv. 25), Shellder, Vulpix, Sandshrew (Lv. 23).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go to the left, and up the next set of stairs. Here you can find Gastlys,
Cubones, and sometimes Haunters. Make sure you catch a cubone, for a later
event. Gastly, on the other hand, is a GREAT pokemon to train your Kadabra
against, as it's probably still low leveled in comparison to the rest of your
team. Keep this in mind as you travel the tower, and go up and right to find a
trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $690, 468 EXP

Kadabra: Confusion, or Psybeam, if you have it.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 23).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Collect the Escape Rope above, then head back down and to the right for more
trainery goodness.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $660, 447 EXP

Same as above battle, just....easier.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head up to find another possessed freak.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $720, 487 EXP

Same as above battle, just....harder? Wow.

more robed nutcases.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $690, 936 EXP

Again, just use Kadabra's confusion\psybeam, whichever you have.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 23) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $660, 447 EXP

Kadabra: Confusion\Psybeam. Dead.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Going down a bit, you can also find an HP Up. Going left, you'll find another
Ghosty Girl.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $720, 487 EXP

Same as above battle. Really.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 24).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just next to the trainer is another set of stairs for you to go up, joy. Head
right and up to another Channel Flipper.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $660, 487 EXP

Same as above battle..oh yes.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down and you'll notice a small set of 16 squares. It works just like a
pokecenter, fulling healing your pokemon. Fancy, really. To the right of this
is another soul-stealing psycho.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $690, 621 EXP

Psybeam if you have it, or a couple of confusions from Kadabra.

Pokemon: Haunter (Lv. 23).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go down and left to find a Nugget. Down and to the right of that is one more
[insert witty name for chaneller here]...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $660, 594 EXP

Same as above fight. Really.

Pokemon: Haunter (Lv. 22).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go up and to the right to another set of stairs. Head down towards an item,
you'll be stopped by a vampire wanna-be.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                              Rewards: $660, 1341 EXP

Good target practice for Kadabra's Psybeam. You really should have that move by
now.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 22) [x3].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down and grab the X Accuracy, then go up to find another drooling retard.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $720, 487 EXP

Psybeam. Need I say anymore?

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 24).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Left and down, and you're almost there...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Channeler                               Rewards: $720, 487 EXP

Exactly the same fight as above. Go figure.

Pokemon: Gastly (Lv. 24).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll find an item blocking your way. It's a rare candy. Use it on whichever
pokemon in your team is the lowest level, to promote evenness. Oh yes. Go down
and you'll find yet another set of stairs, only this one is blocked by a level
30 Marowak. Bubblebeam or Razor Leaf will work. Afterwards, you can use the
stairs. Of course, waiting for you at the top, are the loveable duo....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Team Rocket: Jessie & James                     Rewards: $810, 2249 EXP

Meowth: Slash (Sandshrew), Thunderbolt (Pikachu), or Bubblebeam (Wartortle).
Arbok: Psybeam, or Dig.
Weezing: Psybeam, or Dig.

Pokemon: Meowth (Lv. 27), Arbok (Lv. 27), Weezing (Lv. 27).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

At the top you'll find a lone man, Mr. Fuji. Talk to him and you'll follow him
back to his house. Talk to Mr. Fuji once you arrive and he will give you the
Pokeflute.

Heal at the pokecenter, then go west of lavender. Rather than take the
underground path, go into the building. The guard in the tower will take the
Fresh Water you have, share it with the other guards, and you can now access
Saffron from the west, east, north, and south gates.

[Saffron City]
Pokemon: Hitmonlee OR Hitmonchan (1).
Items: TM 29 (Psychic).
Trainers: Blackbelt [x5].

Upon entering the city, go down all the way, then enter the first house you see
on your left. Talk to the man inside and you'll get TM 29 - Psychic. You can
either give this to Kadabra now, or wait later and he'll learn it naturally. I
chose to save it, as Psybeam is powerful enough for this stage of the game.
You'll learn it soon anyway. Head all the way up to the north part of the City,
and you'll see two gyms. One is blocked off by a rocket however, so enter the
left one.

Inside is your standard fighting dojo. Four trainers and then a karate
master....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Blackbelt                              Rewards: $775, 2061 EXP

Kadabra's Psybeam will OHKO all three of them. Zesty.

Pokemon: Hitmonlee (Lv. 37), Hitmonchan (Lv. 37).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Afterwards, you can choose a pokemon to take as a reward, either hitmonlee or
hitmonchan. You can only have one, so pick whichever you like best. I often go
with hitmonchan myself, although I never use him. Heal, then enter Silph Co.
It's in the middle of the city, and the only building without a rocket blocking
the entrance, it's impossible to miss.

Giovanni.

Get ready for 11 floors of annoyance. Plenty of items to be found here, and
almost too many trainers...

Take the elevator to the fourth floor. Head left, and down. You'll pass a warp
tile and a sealed door. Down further is a rocket next to a warp tile. Step on
the warp tile, then go back on the new warp tile, to be warped back to the
original warp tile. Got it? Good, now go down, and the rocket will challenge
you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $990, 1039 EXP

One psybeam is enough to get rid of Arbok.

Pokemon: Arbok (Lv. 33).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head to the right, collect the card key, then backtrack to the second floor.
From the stairs, go down to find a rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $750, 2400 EXP

Pokemon: Golbat (Lv. 25), Zubat (Lv. 25) [x3], Raticate (Lv. 25).

scientist.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Scientist                             Rewards: $1300, 3061 EXP

Pokemon: Grimer (Lv. 26), Weezing (Lv. 26) [x2], Koffing (Lv. 26).

Magnemite, Voltorb, and Magneton all fall to a single Dig.

Pokemon: Magnemite (Lv. 28), Voltorb (Lv. 28), Magneton (Lv. 28).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head up and to the next floor via the stairs. Go down to find more rocketness.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                                 Rewards: $840, 2382 EXP

Raticate: One razor leaf.  Hypno: One slash\Dig. Raticate #2: One slash.

punky trainer.

Kadabra's defense is horrible, so use Slash to quickly destroy it. The same

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Use the stairs and head up to the next level. There's three trainers scattered
around this floor, but nothing else useful such as items, so I usually skip it.
You shouldn't need the EXP that badly anyway. Head up to the next floor.
Getting tired of climbing stairs yet? Head left, then down, until you come to
another rocket.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Rocket                            Rewards: 2628 EXP

Pokemon: Machoke (Lv. 33).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Below him in the room you can find Carbos, Rare Candy, and TM 26. Teach this to
Sandslash. His moveset should look something close to Slash, Dig, Rock Slide,

other two come in handy. Exit and head up the stairs to the last floor: Floor
11. Go right and down to find another rocket.

Abra: Level 50? You have to be kidding me. A single earthquake should get rid
of it.

Kadabra: A single earthquake should be enough to kill it, although if it's not,
Psywave and Recover will eat you alive here.

Alakazam: Switch to Pikachu and T-Wave. DT up, and then use slam. Kazam knows
Reflect and Recover, which makes killing it tough. Use slam on it until you
either kill it, or faint. If you faint, switch to Sandslash, you should be able
to finish it with Earthquake.

Pokemon: Abra (Lv. 50), Kadabra (Lv. 50), Alakazam (Lv. 50).

Head downward and you'll come to a snorlax blocking your way. Play the
pokeflute, and he will attack. You can try to catch him here, but you probably
don't have a Sleeping move. There's another one later in the game, but if you
want to catch them both, your best bet is using thunderwave, getting his hp
into red, and tossing ultra balls. Pretty hard when you can't put him to sleep
though.

Continue downward, and a trainer by a house will spot you.

Thunderbolt or Razor Leaf for both.

Pokemon: Poliwag (Lv. 30) [x2].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Down and left, another trainer..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Jr. Trainer                            Rewards: $540, 1687 EXP

Pidgey [x2]: Ice Beam. Meowth: Bubblebeam. Pidgeotto: Ice Beam.

Pokemon: Pidgey [x2], Meowth, Pidgeotto (Lv. 27).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go all the way down, then left. There will be a single square below you you can
go down to. Go down, then face left and inspect the post. You'll find a hidden
Calcium. Go back up, then left, ending up on the other side of the post.
Continue left and a trainer will find you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pikachu and thunderbolt or Wartortle and Ice Beam. I'd go with Ice Beam, as to
try and get Wartortle evolved.

Ice Beam x5 on this group.

Pokemon: Spearow [x3], Pidgey [x2] (Lv. 25).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down, left, down, and you'll end up on a brickery path. Plenty of trainers
here, but I skip 'em often. Why? Usually running out of PP, and Fuschia is just
seconds away. Fight them if you wish, you can skip all of them (There's about
15) without any problem. Either way, you'll eventually end up at fuschia city.

[Fuschia City]

You'll have finally arrived at koga. Make sure you're fully healed, and have a
couple of full heals just in case.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heal at the pokecenter, then go all the way up to the Safari Zone.

[Safari Zone]
Pokemon: See "Additional Areas" Section.
Items: Carbos, TM 37 (Egg Bomb), Full Restore, TM 40 (Skull Bash), Protein,
Gold Teeth, TM 32 (Double Team), Revive, HM 03 (Surf)
Trainers: None.

The safari zone consists of two main purposes: Getting two key items, and
collecting pokemon. Below is the walkthrough to get to the key items.
Collecting the pokemon isn't neccesary, but if you wish to, check the
"Additional Areas" Section located in this Document.

From the entrance go up and to the right. You'll exit into a new area. Go under
the sign to the right. Pass the first set of stairs and go up. You'll come to
another set of stairs, and Carbos to the left of those. Head down and left,
following the raised path until you come to the end. Go down the stairs then
head up. Hug the right side of the path and you'll find TM 37 off to your
right. Continue up and you'll come to another raised path. After it is another
item - a full restore. To the right will be a shack of sorts. Continue upwards
and then to the left. Eventually you'll come to a sign. Head underneath it to
the left and you'll exit into another area.

Continue left, skip the first raised platform with stairs, but go up the second
one. Follow it to the end, then continue up a distance until you can no more,
then go right to find TM 40. Continue right, then go up at the grass patch, and
left to another item, Protein. Keep going left, then head down through some
grass, and you'll eventually come to a new area. Go down and you'll find Gold
Teeth. You'll need these for later. After collecting them go left to find TM
32. Search the statue just to the top left of it to find a hidden Revive, then
enter the house. You can now use your remaning time to catch pokemon, or just
run out the clock and you'll be brought to the exit.

[Fuschia City]
Pokemon: None.
Items: HM 04 (Strength), Rare Candy.
Trainers: None.

Exit downwards until you come to two houses side by side. Enter the left one
and talk to the man inside. Give him the GOLD TEETH you found in the safari
zone in exchange for HM 04. Teach HM 04 to Sandlsash or Charmeleon, in place of
their weakest move. Additionally, teach TM 03 to Wartortle, in place of
Bubblebeam, or his weakest move. You can get the rare candy inside by moving
the boulder with strength. Wha-hay!

When you're ready, head back towards vermillion city via routes 15-12 to the
east. Head to the west when you get to where snorlax was, and you'll be in a
area skipped from long ago when you were in vermillion. No walkthrough for
here, they're all very weak pokemon, with a few very weak trainers. Beat em'
down with your lowest leveled pokemon (Charmeleon, Wartortle, Pikachu) until
you reach vermillion.

[Vermillion City - Pallet Town]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Old Amber.
Trainers: None.

Heal at the pokecenter, then dump a random pokemon in the PC and take out
oddish. After that stretch of easy battling, you should definately have a team
consisting of Sandslash, Kadabra, Venusaur, Blastoise, Charizard, and Pikachu.
If by chance Blastoise or Charizard aren't quite there yet, that's
understandable, but only if you're a level or so off. Head through diglett's
cave, then cut your way back to pewter city.

Go all the way to the top of Pewter, and you'll find a bush you can cut. Cut
through, then enter the building and talk to the scientist at the top. He'll
give you the fabled old amber. Now exit and haul all the way back to where you
started - Pallet Town.

Put Venusaur in the lead, and head to the bottom of Pallet. You'll come to the
water. Use Blastoise to surf, and head on down..

[Sea Route 21]
Pokemon: Tentacool, Tentacruel.
Items: None.
Trainers: Fisherman [x4], Swimmer [x2], Cue Ball.

Surf downward until you come to a small dock with two fisherman on it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Fisherman                               Rewards: $945, 690 EXP

What a waste of PP. 6 ANYTHINGs from Venusaur. Heck, if you still have tackle
as a move, that would nix em. Shame to waste Razor Leaf PP on these goons.

Pokemon: Magikarp (Lv. 27) [x6].
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Shortly down from the dock is a group of two swimmer-type-things.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Swimmer                                Rewards: $165, 2544 EXP

A single razor leaf will do it for the first two. Tentacruel requires dos razor
leafos.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue down a bit and you'll come to another dock. More fishies.

A single Razor Leaf for each. Zesty.

A single razor leaf for whirl and seadra. Two for tentacool.

Pokemon: Poliwhirl (Lv. 32), Tentacool (Lv. 32), Seadra (Lv. 32).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue downward and you'll finally arrive at Cinnabar Island.

[Cinnabar Island]
Pokemon: Rhydon (1), Dewgong (1), Muk (1), Aerodactyl (1), Kabuto\Omanyte (1).
Items: TM 35 (Metronome).
Trainers: None.

Head down and heal. Stick Oddish back in the PC and get, obviously, whoever you
put back in. Make sure you have the old amber and your fossil, and enter the
building to the left.

Enter the first room and you'll come upon two odd trading opportunities. You
can trade your GOLDUCK for a trainer's RHYDON if you wish, or your GROWLITHE
for a DEWGONG. Neither of these are special, as you can get them elsewhere, but
there's no harm in trading if you have the required pokemon, get them if you
wish. Enter the next room and talk to the scientist in the corner to get TM 35.
You can give it to a pokemon if you want to have some fun, but it's not all too
useful on the average. Enter the final room on the right, and you can trade
your KANGASKHAN for a MUK, if you feel like it. Talk to the scientist above and
give him the Old Amber - which is a fossil of Aerodactyl. Exit the building, go
to the pokecenter and deposit any two pokemon. Head back to the lab to get
Aerodactyl. Talk to the scientist again and give him the Dome\Helix fossil.
Exit the lab and re-enter, to get Kabuto or Omanyte, depending on the fossil
you gave him. Dump both pokemon in the PC, get your originals out, and go to
the top west corner of the island. Enter pokemon mansion.

[Pokemon Mansion]
Pokemon: Grimer, Muk, Rattata, Raticate, Growlithe.
Items: Escape Rope, Calcium, Max Potion, Iron, Carbos, Full Restore, TM 14
(Blizzard), Rare Candy, TM 22 (Solarbeam), Secret Key.
Trainers: Burglar [x3], Scientist [x3].

Put Blastoise in front, as this is a great area to get him up in levels. Head
straight up and to the right where you'll find an escape rope. Go left and
you'll find a statue. Press it to activate a secret switch. Head around back
down and go up the flight up stairs. Then hit the secret switch in the statue
on the next floor. Go down and talk to the trainer below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Burglar                               Rewards: $3060, 1105 EXP

A single surf for each. Easy exp. Nice cash too.

Pokemon: Charmander (Lv. 34), Charmeleon (Lv. 34).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go all the way up and to the right until you eventually come to an item in the
corner - calcium. Head all the way back to the stairs and use the flight
leading up. You'll come to an area with a Max Potion, as well as another lost
burglar.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Burglar                               Rewards: $3420, 1449 EXP

Two surfs, but the rewards are well worth it.

Pokemon: Ninetales (Lv. 38).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exit back down via the stairs. Go up and left to find another flight of stairs
leading upwards. Head right, skipping the statue, and you'll come to an Iron.
Head back, and hit the switch in the statue. Go down through the newly opened
path to the right, where a scientist will find you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Scientist                             Rewards: $1650, 2493 EXP

I knew sandslash was good for something. Three earthquakes.

Pokemon: Magnemite (Lv. 33), Magneton (Lv. 33), Voltorb (Lv. 33).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fall down the 'wide' path to the left of the scientist and you'll drop into an
area, oddly enough, with another scientist.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Scientist                             Rewards: $1450, 2005 EXP

Electrode: Earthquake. Weezing: Surf.

Pokemon: Electrode (Lv. 29), Weezing (Lv. 29).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head down to find a Carbos, as well as a downward flight of stairs. Go up, then
quite a ways left until you find a Full Restore on the west wall. Go back to
the right, and enter the little room. You'll find TM 14, which is so incredibly
delicious. Teach it to Blastoise, in place of Ice Beam. Hit the switch inside
the statue, then talk to the burglar.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Burglar                               Rewards: $3060, 1770 EXP

Two surfs.

Pokemon: Growlithe (Lv. 34), Ponyta (Lv. 34).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Loop back around to the right where the stairs were, then go up through the
newly opened path. Another scientist awaits.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainer: Scientist                             Rewards: $1700, 1740 EXP

All signs point to two earthquakes.

Pokemon: Magnemite (Lv. 34), Electrode (lv. 34)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go up, hit the secret switch, then collect the rare candy in the room to the
left. On a table to the left is TM 22, which you should teach to Venusaur in
place of some crappy move it has (Poison Powder\Tackle). Finally, head down and
collect the secret key, then use the escape rope you found earlier to exit.

[Cinnabar Island]
Pokemon: None.
Items: TM 38 (Fire Blast), Volcano Badge.
Trainers: Burglar [x3], Super Nerd [x4], Blaine.

Make sure blastoise is in the lead, and enter the gym. The idea of this gym is
that you can skip the trainers by answering a series of questions correctly.
The questions aren't hard, but if you're curious or just plain lazy, the
answers are: Yes, No, No, No, Yes, No. For the less lazy, and more bored, you
can beat the crap out of the trainers for a lot of easy exp, and a LOT of cash,
if you need it. Either way, you'll eventually meet up with Blaine.

GYM LEADER: Blaine       Rewards: $5346, 6350 EXP, Volcano Badge, TM 38

Pokemon: Ninetails (Lv. 48), Rapidash (Lv. 50), Arcanine (Lv. 54).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exit and heal at the pokecenter. Teach Fire Blast to Charizard in place of a

Dugtrio: One razor leaf.
Persian: 2-3 slashes\earthquakes.
Nidoqueen: One psychic.

more, only this time he's pretty good. Have Venusaur in the lead.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rival: Gary                                   Rewards: $3445, 10193 EXP

Sandslash: One razor leaf.
Exeggcute: One fire blast.
Ninetales: One surf. Isn't blastoise just great?
Cloyster: 2-3 Thunderbolts. Pikachu is so weak it's almost scary.
Kadabra: One earthquake. Pray it only takes one, or he'll abuse recover until
you lose your mind.
Jolteon: Poor little rat. One earthquake is more than enough.

Pokemon: Sandslash, Cloyster (Lv. 47), Exeggcute, Ninetales (Lv. 45), Kadabra
(Lv. 50), Jolteon (Lv. 53).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head left and run onward to pokemon league like a giddy little boy.

[Pokemon League]
Pokemon: Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Nidorina, Nidorino, Primeape.
Items: Max Ether.
Trainers: None.

Show the guards your fancy badges and they'll let you pass. Once you reach the
water you can find a max ether on a small square platform. It's in the top-left
corner. There are a few pokemon in here you could get if you didn't have a full
team, but you'll already have six if you've been doing anything right. At level
40-ish they give good exp. for your weaker pokemon. Catch 'em if you need 'em,
otherwise, skip along to victory road.

[Victory Road]
Pokemon: Geodude, Onix, Zubat, Graveler, Golbat, Machoke, Moltres
Items: Rare Candy, TM 43 (Sky Attack), TM 17 (Submission), Guard Spec,
Trainers: Cooltrainer [x4], Blackbelt, Juggler [x2]

I hate this place. Most players hate this place. You'll hate this place.
Thankfully, it won't take too long with these directions. Just be ready for
battles...a lot of battles.

Put venusaur in the lead, as he'll get a lot of easy wins versus wild rock
pokemon. Use strength to push the boulder in front of you to your right.
Eventually you'll come to a switch you can place the boulder on.

Note: If a boulder ever gets "stuck", just leave the area and come back to
where you originally got it. A new one will appear.

Now go back and up the steps. Head right at the T intersection and you'll come
to another boulder. Push it and you'll see two items. To get both of them
simply grab one, then come back after exiting the area, and get the other by
moving the boulder into the open spot. If you're lazy, and just want the
'better' item, to the left is a rare candy, and above is TM 43 - Sky Attack.
Head back down and left to your first trainer, joy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Cooltrainer                           Rewards: $1540, 3072 EXP

Persian: Since venusaur is in the lead, just take it out with 2 razor leafs.

Ninetails: Switch to blastoise. One surf. Yummy.

Pokemon: Persian, Ninetales (Lv. 44).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue left and up, and you'll find another trainer by the stairs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Cooltrainer                           Rewards: $1470, 5736 EXP

Ivysaur: Hrm. Fire blast, anyone?

Wartortle: 1-2 thunderbolts from pika-pika.

Charmeleon: Blastoise. Surf.

Charizard: Blizzard\Surf. Go nuts.

Isn't it great having all three starters? Hoo-hah.

Pokemon: Ivysaur, Wartortle, Charmeleon, Charizard (Lv. 42)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head up the stairs to the next level. Go down to find another boulder and
another switch. I think you know what to do next. Head up the steps to the
right and find another trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Blackbelt                             Rewards: $1075, 3498 EXP

Machoke: Fighting. Ooh. Switch to kadabra for an easy kill.

Machop: Even easier. Psybeam\Psychic.

Machoke: Errr..psychic?

Pokemon: Machoke, Machop, Machoke (Lv. 43)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Keep heading down and right, you'll come to another trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Juggler                               Rewards: $1435, 4890 EXP

Drowzee: Any high powered attack like earthquake or slash will do.

Hypno: Same thing, a tad harder. I'd use sandslash\earthquake for this.

Kadabra: Less defense = easier. Slash will work from anyone.

Kadabra: Ditto.

Pokemon: Drowzee, Hypno, Kadabra [x2] (Lv. 41)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Head right and up from here, you'll find a trainer next to an item.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Tamer                                  Rewards: 3034 EXP

Persian: Any special move that gets STAB. Char\FB, Blast\Surf, etc.

Golduck: Rather annoying, as my pikachu was usually still weak, and got owned.
Lead with venusaur, finish with pikachu if he doesn't make it.

Pokemon: Persian, Golduck (Lv. 44)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Grab the full heal nearby and head up to the right. Grab TM 17 and head back
down. Use the stairs by the previous trainer to head up. You'll see a boulder
in front of you. First head right though, towards another item\trainer combo.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Cooltrainer                           Rewards: $1505, 5784 EXP

Exeggutor: Fire blast. Two should do it.

Cloyster: As crappy as his special is, I actually used a single psychic from
Kadabra to take him out. Far too easy.

Arcanine: As good as he is, he's no match for a single surf.

Pokemon: Exeggutor, Cloyster, Arcanine (Lv. 43)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Grab the max revive (You might need one by now), then head back to the boulder
and push it quite a ways up and to the left. Eventutally you'll come to an
opening with stairs and a switch. Push the boulder onto it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Note: Moltres can be found up this set of stairs, along with a trainer and a
guard spec. At this point in the game, I wouldn't suggest trying to catch him.
You'll need to come back later with a high level sleeper, as well as a fast
level 60+ pokemon (A single haunter\gengar with hypnosis, for example). You'll
also need a vast supply of ultra balls. Put moltres to sleep and wear down his
HP to around 1/4 (A move like seismic toss which does a set amount of damange
would work well). Put him back to sleep as neccesary, and keep throwing ultra
balls. Eventually you'll catch him. Two other tips for catching moltres:

ALWAYS save before fighting moltres or any other one-time pokemon, if you don't
catch it without saving, you're toast.

If you just can't seem to catch moltres (He escapes at the last second, or
similar), hold (Down + B) while the ball animation shows. It greatly improves
your success rate with moltres (and any other pokemon you want to catch)
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Whether you fight moltres or not, head back to where you originally got the
boulder and go up the steps to the left. You'll soon come to a trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Trainer:
Cooltrainer                           Rewards: $1505, 5148 EXP

Parasect: He's 4x weak to ice and fire. Use charizard and fire blast, as he's
probably weaker than blastoise.

Dewgong: Thunderbolt. Yay for pikachu.

Chansey: Ooh. Evil. Sing\Doubleslap\Minimize\Growl. I had a hard time killing
it, just because it minimized the crap out of me. Go for a quick kill with
Sandslash and Earthquake, or duke it out with Kadabra
(Reflect\Recover\Psychic). I hate chansey.

Pokemon: Parasect, Dewgong, Chansey (Lv. 43)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue down and to the left, head down the steps, avoid the two trainers (I
hate them), and push the boulder down the shiny hole. Fall down yourself and
you'll be in a familiar area. Push the boulder all the way to the left onto
another switch, and you'll be able to access the stairs above you when you
first fell down. Head up to more stairs, then right.

[Indigo Plateau]
Pokemon: None.
Items: Plenty (at the pokemart)
Trainers: Elite Four + Gary.

You actually made it out of the cave. Hooray for you. Now get your butt up to
the combonation pokecenter + mart. Heal your pokemon, and use your unholy
amount of cash to buy full restores and revives (7-10 of each should be
PLENTY).

Up ahead lies the elite four. Four trainers all in a row, with only your items
to aid your weary pokemon. Before entering, I suggest having all your pokemon
at level 45 (or higher), as well as having the following items: Revive, Full
Restore, Pokeflute. Aside from levels, your movesets should be similar to this:

Sandslash: Earthquake, Rock Slide, Strength, Slash\Fissure. (Semi-sweeper)

Kadabra: Reflect, Recover, Psychic, Double Team\Thunderwave (annoyer)

Blastoise: Surf, Blizzard, Body Slam, Submission (Never could find a good
fourth for him :|)

Venusaur: Mega Drain, Leech Seed, Toxic, Solarbeam\Body Slam OR
Growth, Sleep Powder, Mega Drain, Leech Seed\Solarbeam

Note: The latter is obviously better but requires a tad more training. Makes
the entire last five battles a CAKEWALK though. But then you wouldn't need this
guide ;)

Charizard: Double Team, Rest, Fire Blast, Slash OR
Double Team, Rest, Swords Dance, Swift (Swift Dancer)

Pikachu: Thunderbolt, Thunderwave, Double Team\Reflect, Rest\Thunder (I often
found pikachu too weak. Use another if you want)

If you don't have some of those TMs, just keep a good variation of elemental
moves on your pokemon, or just use a different pokemon (Subbing in a Haunter or
Machoke for pikachu would work for example)

Onto the elite four, huzzah.

[Elite Four]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elite Four: Lorelei                             Pokemon Type: Ice\Water

Dewgong (Lv. 54) - Bubblebeam, Aurora Beam, Take Down, Rest.
Cloyster (Lv. 53) - Ice Beam, Supersonic, Spike Cannon, Clamp.
Slowbro (Lv. 54) - Surf, Withdraw, Amnesia, Psychic.
Jynx (Lv. 56) - Lovely Kiss, Ice Punch, Doubleslap, Thrash.
Lapras (Lv. 56) - Body Slam, Hydro Pump, Confuse Ray, Blizzard.

Dewgong: Lead with Venusaur, and leech seed (or sleep powder if you have it).
Dewgong will likely either aurora beam, or rest. It's a toss up. If he beams
you, use mega drain to recover (coupled with leech seed) and you'll make it.
He'll then rest, and you can mega drain your life back and KO him. If he rests,
then simply charge up a solarbeam for an easy kill.

Cloyster: A single solarbeam will nuke him out. Sleep powder + beam = gone. If
you don't have solarbeam (like me), you'll just have to bravely wait the turn
to charge (you'll survive at full health). OR, if you're feeling sneaky, with a
little luck you can pull the following off. When fighting dewgong, leech seed
him, and get him to use rest. Mega drain his life down to as close to nothing
as you can, and then use solarbeam. With any luck (or just a bit more skill),
your solarbeam will charge, he'll wake up, and be killed by leech seed. Your
solarbeam will them hit cloyster on the first turn "free" of charge. Not bad,
huh?

Slowbro: With venusaur in there, he'll likely lead with amnesia. Use a
solarbeam to take off about half his life, then leech seed + toxic. Or, if you
have sleep powder, use that and a solarbeam or a couple mega drains (depending
on your life).

Jynx: Switch to blastoise. Two body slams and she's gone. Watch out for lovely
kiss (use the pokeflute), and use a full restore if you get real unlucky.

Lapras: It really helps if you have sleep powder here, then you can just powder
+ seed + drain away. If you don't have sleep powder, you're most likely going
to need to use a revive after this. Lead with venusaur, toxic + seed (if you
make it that far, it will abuse blizzard on you). Then mega drain until
impending death (or victory if you're lucky). Finish with pikachu and
thunderbolt if needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If half your pokemon nearly tanked themselves, have no fear, in my opinion,
she's the hardest of all of them. Heal with your items as needed and move on to
a MUCH easier target in bruno. Lead with blastoise.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elite Four: Bruno                           Pokemon Type: Rock\Fighting

Onix (Lv. 53) - Slam, Screech, Dig, Rock Slide.
Hitmonchan (Lv. 55) - Thunderpunch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Double Team.
Hitmonlee (Lv. 55) - Mega Kick, Hi Jump Kick, Double Team, Double Kick.
Onix (Lv. 56) - Slam, Screech, Rock Slide, Dig.
Machamp (Lv. 58) - Strength, Submission, Karate Chop, Leer.

Onix: A single surf from blastoise. I guess your team is worth something after
all.

Hitmonchan: A single psychic from Kadabra\Alakazam.

Hitmonlee: Another psychic from Kadabra.

Onix: Another surf from blastoise.

Machamp: 1-2 psychics, depending on your level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't get too cocky, Bruno's the easiest of all four. Hopefully, though, you
didn't suffer a single hit and are in good shape for the next trainer: Agatha.
Put kadabra in the lead.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elite Four: Agatha                           Pokemon Type: Ghost\Poison

Gengar (Lv. 56) - Lick, Substitute, Mega Drain, Confuse Ray.
Golbat (Lv. 56) - Wing Attack, Leech Life, Supersonic, Toxic.
Haunter (Lv. 55) - Hypnosis, Lick, Dream Eater, Confuse Ray.
Arbok (Lv. 58) - Wrap, Glare, Strength, Acid.
Gengar (Lv. 60) - Psychic, Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Confuse Ray.

Gengar: Two psychics. Yay kadabra.

Golbat: Switch to blastoise. One blizzard should work.

Haunter: One psychic should be all you need for this one.

Arbok: Just one more psychic. You have to love kadabra.

Gengar: Just slightly harder than the first. Two psychics should do it.
Annoying if you let him get set up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heal, you'll probably need it. Put pikachu in the lead, and make your way to
the ultimate trainer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elite Four: Lance                     Pokemon Type: Dragon\Flying\Water

Gyarados (Lv. 58) - Dragon Rage, Hyper Beam, Leer, Hydro Pump.
Dragonair (Lv. 56) - Thunderbolt, Slam, Hyper Beam, Thunder Wave.
Dragonair (Lv. 56) - Wrap, Ice Beam, Bubblebeam, Hyper Beam.
Aerodactyl (Lv. 60) - Hyper Beam, Fly, Swift, Wing Attack.
Dragonite (Lv. 62) - Hyper Beam, Thunder, Fire Blast, Blizzard.

Gyarados: Water\Flying. 4x weak to electricity. Say hello, pikachu. 1-2
thunderbolts.

Dragonair: Bring out blastoise. One blizzard is more than enough.

Dragonair: Deja vu, anyone?

Aerodactyl: Blastoise. Surf. OHKO.

Dragonite: Very...very annoying. Hopefully you have PP left for blizzard (at
least one). You may not, as you need to use 4 minimum before this one. Switch
to pikachu, thunderwave, and actually hope for him to hyperbeam on you. Screw
around with thunderbolt for little damage until he kills you (preferably with
HB). Switch to blastoise and use blizzard, otherwise, use sandslash and pray
you knock him out with rock slide. You shouldn't have TOO much trouble with him
(Perhaps lose a pokemon or two).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Use your assortment of items to make your pokemon nice and shiny again, and
head on to the last trainer, with blastoise in the lead.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rival: Gary                                      Pokemon Type: Balanced

Sandslash (Lv. 61) - Earthquake, Poison Sting, Fury Swipes, Slash.
Alakazam (Lv. 59) - Recover, Psychic, Psybeam, Kinesis.
Exeggutor (Lv. 61) - Barrage, Stomp, Hypnosis, Leech Seed.
Cloyster (Lv. 61) - Ice Beam, Aurora Beam, Clamp, Spike Cannon.
Ninetales (Lv. 63) - Tail Whip, Quick Attack, Fire Spin, Confuse Ray.
Jolteon (Lv. 65) - Quick Attack, Pin Missile, Thunder, Thunderwave.

Sandslash: Only one surf. What a promising start to the battle.

Alakazam: Ooh. Crap. Two body slams will kill kazam, assuming his doesn't use
recover. As long as you do more than 1/2 damage to him per hit, you're fine,
recover will only make you use a few more PP you should already have for Body
Slam. If you can't take him that way, you'll have to use some sort of sleep
combo, or just pray. You weak trainer, you.

Exeggutor: Enter Charizard. Fire Blast away. Two at most and he's toast. You
didn't think we'd keep Charizard on the team for nothing did you? By the way,
if your charizard sucks, Blizzard will do (Blastoise).

Cloyster: Basically, a suped up version of the one you faced before. A single
solarbeam will kill it if you can survive the charge. Otherwise, T-Wave +
Thunderbolt away with pikachu.

Ninetales: A joke, after some of the harder pokemon you've faced. Blastoise
simply kills it with surf. Honestly, what was gary thinking. Tail Whip? Quick
Attack? Bahahaha.

Jolteon: A less than climactic ending to it all. With the ever weak quick
attack and pin missile being the only attacks that can affect your Sandslash,
he'll have no trouble taking it out with Earthquake (or anything else for that
matter).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Game. Set. Match. Enjoy the stereotypical ending, yellow style.
